**Please note that while this is a childrens production, it is not a junior version of the original show. It is the full production.
"Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!" Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written – the perfect escape from life's troubles. “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom.
With its unforgettable zany characters, a hysterical, perfectly constructed book by Larry Gelbart (of “MASH” and “City Of Angels” fame) and Burt Shevelove, and witty Stephen Sondheim songs which are modest n their vocal demands, “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum”
allows a brilliant ensemble of comedic actors to shine.

WHEN: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
SATURDAY & SUNDAY
JULY 12 & 13
MOSAIC ACTING ACADEMY
Rancho Cordova (directions on receipt of deposit)
I’ve been acting and directing for over forty years, and I’ve never found anything as easy and effective, or as much fun to work with as The MOSAIC ACTING SYSTEM. (www.mosaicacting.com) It is the only acting system in the world that takes advantage of the fantastic advances made in general education through the application of a Learning Styles paradigm. I’ve taught and trained instructors in London, Toronto, and cities in the USA, as well as presenting Mosaic Acting to schools and teachers from middle-school to the University level, including the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. The Whelan Recording Technique is the perfect Whole Brain teaching/learning technique. Character, relationship, emotional base and line memorization are achieved with ease and speed never before experienced.
While emotions are the very core of the actors art, there has never been a program until EMOTIONOLOGY that provided the tools for actors to study them in an objective and systematic fashion MAS provides that and more.

Keep your talent fresh and growing, working on scripted material that helps expand your skills and capabilities.
The approach is eclectic, with much reliance on Sandy Meisner's defiition that "acting is truthfully responding to an imaginary situation." The leader draws from Meisner, Eric Morris, Viola Spolin and other major approaches to integrate with what the participant already knows.
Leader Evan Nossoff directed the two longest running nonmusicals in Sacramento theater history. One of those productions, The Vagina Monologues, was the first Sacramento production to play in San Francisco.
