Andrew Lippa's Wild Party /
January 9 - February 1, 2009
Taking place in the roaring 1920s, Wild Party concerns a blowout party in one wild evening in the Manhattan apartment shared by two vaudeville performers, Queenie and Burrs. To spice up their already rocky relationship, they decide to throw the party of the decade. Guests include a lesbian, a thug, a dimwit, an underaged seductress, and a dancer. Queenie soon falls in love with one of the guests – the handsome Mr. Black. Burrs becomes insatiably jealous and violence ensues between him and Mr. Black. Mr. Black ends up shooting Burrs dead and flees the scene. In the end, Queenie has lost both men and her life is a wreck.
Sacramento premiere! Recommended for theatregoers 16 and over.

Evita /

Evita is the story of Eva, a poor Argentine girl who grows up to be the wife of the president of Argentina and worshipped by her people. As a young girl, Eva quickly learns that the way to achieve the power she desires is by sleeping with powerful men. In order to make it to Buenos Aires, Evita sleeps with the tango singer, Agustin Magaldi. After she is through with him, she seduces the rising political figure, Juan Peron. Peron eventually becomes the President of Argentina while Eva becomes a hero to the poor and working class. In the end, to the sadness of Argentina's people, Eva dies young.

Sweet Charity /

Charity Valentine is the eternal optimist. While working at the seedy Fan-Dango ballroom, she is often taken advantage of and continually experiences bad relationships. Finally, she seems to have met a decent fellow in Oscar. Trying to hide her true profession, she lies to him and tells her that she works in a bank. Soon, Oscar asks Charity to marry him. Unfortunately, Oscar discovers Charity's real profession and backs out of the marriage. Nevertheless, Charity continues to remain hopeful that good things will happen in her life.
In the immortal style of Bob Fosse!

Attempting to live a normal life filled with Jewish traditions in early twentieth century Russia, Tevye , a dairyman, is searching for appropriate husbands for his three eldest daughters - Tzeital, Hodel and Chava. In a break of tradition, his daughters refuse to accept the wishes of the matchmaker, Yente, and their father. Instead, the marry men that they love. Meanwhile, Russians are instigating terrible pogroms against the Jewish people in Russia. In the end, the Jews of Anatevka are forced to leave their homes and Tevye is determined to start a better life in a new land.

Taking place in 1904, Meet Me in St. Louis is an optimistic musical about the Smith family of St. Louis. Life is wonderful in St. Louis: the World Fair is about to begin and love is in the air. This happy world crumbles when Mr. Smith runs into financial trouble and announces that the family will have to move to New York. Soon, the family has packed all their things and is about to start the move. At the last minute, Mr. Smith realizes how much his family loves St. Louis. To the joy of everyone, Mr. Smith announces that the family will not leave St. Louis.
