Runaway Stage Productions, a nonprofit educational corporation, is thrilled to announce the launching of its 12th season of musical theater excellence in Sacramento with the regional premier of Andrew Lippa’s THE WILD PARTY.
Hedy Weiss, Chicago Sun-Times Theater Critic said this about the ground-breaking show: "The Wild Party conveys a sense of the decadent side of New York of the 1920s better than anything I can recall since F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby."

Runaway Stage Productions (RSP) began serving the region’s theatre community in 1997 at the Eagle Theater in Old Sacramento and now performs at the 24th Street Theater at the Sierra 2 Center. It is the only Community Theatre Company in the greater Sacramento Area boasting of an 18 piece Resident Orchestra dedicated to providing "live" music during performances. The company also stages six Broadway style productions each season, and six original Storybook Children’s Theater shows, which are tailored to younger audiences.
RSP has earned three Elly Awards for Best Overall - Musical; Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2002), The Wiz (2003) and Chicago (2007). Most recently, Runaway Stage was honored to receive 38 Elly Nominations, as well as, three nominations for Steel Magnolias produced in association with Stage Nine Theatre in Folsom.
Runaway Stage Productions also offers education and enrichment of all audiences through its Youth Musical Theatre Workshops which introduce school age children to the theatrical experience. RSP also provides a new acting avenue through the “Broadway Kids” series which introduces actors between the ages of five and nine to the stage. |

The Wild Party, January 9 - February 1, 2009
A Sacramento regional premier, adapted from a book-length poem written in and about the Roaring Twenties, THE WILD PARTY tells the story of one wild evening in the Manhattan apartment of Queenie and Burrs, a vaudeville dancer and a vaudeville clown. Nominated for several Drama Desk Awards, this award-winning score by Andrew Lippa provides excitement and drive for this tale of passions out of control.
Little Women, March 6 - March 29, 2009
A Sacramento community theatre premier, Little Women the Musical follows the saga of the March sisters as they grow up in Civil War America. This entertaining show will charm young and old alike. It captures the heart in a way that won’t let go and offers an outstanding evening of family-friendly entertainment featuring such songs as “Astonishing”, “Some Things Are Meant to Be” and “Days of Plenty.”

Evita, May 1 - May 24, 2009
Evita, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, brings to life the dynamic, larger-than-life persona of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator, Juan Peron. The story tells of the enormous wealth and power she gained and the means by which she became the beloved Evita. This show features such songs as “Don’t Cry for me Argentina.”
Sweet Charity, July 10 - August 2, 2009
Professional dance hall partner Charity continues to have faith in the human race despite apparently endless disappointments. Throughout this adventure, the optimistic Charity faces her future, living hopefully ever after. This classic show features such songs as “If My Friends Could See Me Now” and “Big Spender.”

Fiddler on the Roof, September 4 - September 29, 2009
This classis musical takes place in pre-revolutionary Russia and centers on the life of Tevye - a milkman who is trying to keep his family's traditions in place while marrying off his three older daughters. Yet, times are changing and the daughters want to make their own matches, breaking free of many of the customs the family considers “tradition.” Enjoy an incredible score including “If I Were a Rich Man”, “Sunrise, Sunset” and “Far from the Home I Love.”
Meet Me in St. Louis, November 6 - November 29, 2009
This nostalgically romantic production captures the excitement and innocence of turn of the century St. Louis. This is a great holiday favorite featuring wonderful music like “The Trolley Song”, “Meet Me In St. Louis” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
