The Studio Theatre, home to Sacramento's longest-running musical review SIX WOMEN WITH BRAIN DEATH, became Sacramento's newest Equity theatre company this year, joining the B Street Theatre, California Musical Theatre, Capital Stage and the Sacramento Theatre Company.

The first production under our new professional status was the regional premiere of Nathan Sander's THE SUGAR BEAN SISTERS.

This offbeat story of romance, murder and alien abduction was nominated for an Oppenheimer Award and New York Newsday called it "the most impressive debut of a new American playwright."

Our current production, the Tony-nominated musical PUMP BOYS & DINETTES, continues our tradition of serving laughter and entertainment. Somewhere off Highway 57, stands a gas station on one side of the road run by four guys who provide service with a smile and a song. On the other side of the road is the Double Cupp Diner, where fun is always on the menu. The show is full of such memorable songs as "Farmer Tan," "The Night Dolly Parton Was Almost Mine," and "Drinkin' Shoes." The Chicago Sun-Times called the show "a sweet, cherry Coke entertainment...just right for summertime consumption."
